Cabin Fever Friday Five

Singing Owl posts the following for Revgalblogpals FF5 reflection:

"Here in snow country we are settled in to what is a very long stretch of potentially boring days. The holidays are over. It is a very long time till we will get outside on a regular basis. The snow that seemed so beautiful at first is now dirty and the snow banks are piling up. Our vehicles are all the same shade of brownish grey, but if we go to the car wash our doors will freeze shut. People get grumpy. Of course, not everyone lives in a cold climate, but even in warmer places the days till springtime can get long. Help! Please give us five suggestions for combating cabin fever and staying cheerful in our monochromatic world?"

I must admit this is something at which I am not very successful. I am looking forward to seeing other people's FF5s, because I need help with this. However, there are a few things that appear to work for me.

1. Take up a new indoor past time/hobby --one winter I started researching my family's genealogy on the internet.

2. Do interior decorating. Move the furniture around. Do interior "Spring Cleaning" during Winter so that, when Spring finally arrives, you'll have more time to get out and enjoy it!

3. Go to Home Depot, Menard's, Lowe's or someplace like that and hang out in the lighting department.

4. Make it a point to play in the snow when possible. Go sledding. Build a snowman. Borrow children if necessary.

5. On those rare sunny days, go outside and take pictures of winter and e-mail them to your friends and family who live in places where snow is almost unheard of.
